Hotel History

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The Legends Inn is a small family owned and operated motel. The property, formerly known as The Carousel Inn, was purchased in 1999 by Joe Parker, a U.S. Marine and World War II Combat Veteran. Joe is a man who loves to tell stories, hence, the new business name: the Legends Inn. Soon after opening the motel, Joe began to build a reputation for making everyone feel welcome. Over time, he has more or less built his own legacy. Best known for his friendliness and hospitality and the endless stories he has to share, Joe has the uncanny ability to make every guest feel like they are his new best friend. There was a time when it was not uncommon for him to offer guests their share of whatever he might be having for dinner. This is just the kind of man Joe Parker is. His sincerity and outgoing personality has added a whole new dimension to customer service at the Legends Inn. Over the years, Joe has developed all kinds of friendships. From the movie stars to the motorcycle riders, the scope of his acquaintances is amazing, and friends from all areas make it a point to stop by the Legends Inn for a visit. Active or retired military personnel are always welcome. Parker family members represent all branches of the military and armed services - Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Law Enforcement, so there's lots of common ground.

Joe still offers dinner to guests from time to time, and it is a given that if he is in the lobby when you check in, he will at least offer you a soft drink. If you accept, and have some time to spare, he will probably have an interesting story to tell.

After retiring from Law Enforcement, Joe’s son - Kevin Parker - moved to Junction in 2003 to help take care of his dad. Kevin officially took over ownership of the Legends Inn in 2006. Since that time, there have been many changes to the hotel. Kevin and his partner, Denise, manage all of the duties of operations as well as the ongoing remodeling and landscaping projects they started in 2006. They continue to look for ways to improve the business, to stand out from the crowd, and to make guests feel welcome and comfortable.

Upon arriving at the Legends Inn, you can see that this is not a typical hotel. Along with the Texas State flag, flags from all areas of the military service wave at you. There’s also a very special “First Line of Defense” flag that Kevin designed. This flag depicts support for all of our police officers, firemen and medical personnel. Along with the flag display, you will see the beautiful gardens that Kevin and Denise have created for your enjoyment. What was once asphalt has been transformed into uniquely designed gardens with flowers that bloom all year. The remodeled rooms are also unique and include beautiful wall textures and faux finishes. Kevin and Denise appreciate all the help they have had with the remodeling of rooms, especially from Kevin's daughter, Heather. Of course, we can't forget the staff. Everyone at the Legends Inn takes pride in helping to maintain the property and guarantee extremely clean rooms.

Beyond the cosmetics, the friendly casual atmosphere and outstanding service at the Legends Inn can make the weariest of travelers feel welcome - as if they were family. Complimentary coffee and pecan rolls are served each morning. All rooms include wireless internet , full cable, local phone calls, refrigerators, microwaves, and alarm clocks. 12-cup coffeemakers are also available. And, if there is anything management can do to make your visit to Junction more pleasurable, all you have to do is ask. Kevin and Denise, as well as our desk clerks, Michelle and Shana, will greet you with a smile and do whatever they can to help you. In a joint effort with our housekeepers, LeAnne, Tammy and Sissy, everyone works extremely hard to provide you with the highest standard of customer service and squeaky clean rooms.

Kevin and Denise are very grateful for the commitment of their employees and consider it a pleasure to include them in the Legends Inn family.

We hope your family will visit us soon. Remember, the Legends Inn has always been pet friendly. Your pets are welcomed and will be treated as members of your family. There's a vacant lot next door where the dogs can exercise and take care of business. Each pet owner must pay a daily pet fee of $5 for each pet. For more information on Legends Inn pet policy, Visit our Pet Friendly page.

Be aware that one of the members of our family is our guard dog, Ginger. Ginger is a big dog and she has a big bark, but she is really harmless and just wants everyone to know that this is her home, especially the other dogs.
