Family and Hotel History  U.S. Vet Info

Legends Inn is a small family owned and operated motel in Junction, Texas. Active or retired military personnel are always welcome. Parker family members represent all branches of the military and armed services - Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Law Enforcement.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The property, formerly known as The Carousel Inn, was originally purchased in 1999 by Joe Parker, a U.S. Marine and World War II Combat Veteran. Joe was a man who loved to tell stories, hence, the business name: the Legends Inn.

Soon after opening the motel, Joe began to build a reputation for his friendliness and hospitality, as well as the endless stories he had to share. From the movie stars to the motorcycle riders, his scope of acquaintances was amazing. He also had the uncanny ability to make every stranger and every guest feel like THEY were his new best friend. And, it was not uncommon for him to offer them a share of whatever he might be having for dinner.

This is just the kind of man Joe Parker was. His sincerity and outgoing personality added a whole new dimension to customer service at this motel in Junction. Joe passed away November 5, 2008. Although his smiling face no longer greets us, his memory will live on in the hearts of many, as well as the legend he left behind.

After years of working in Law Enforcement, Joe’s son - Kevin Parker - moved to Junction in 2003, to help take care of his dad. Their family had been hunting in Kimble County and Junction for most of his life, and Kevin has always loved the Hill Country. Just like his dad. Kevin officially took ownership of the Legends Inn in 2006. front garden and pond

Since that time, there have been many changes to this motel. The legacy of Joe Parker continues, and Kevin and his partner, Denise, are always looking for new ways to help serve the public. Denise was raised in a restaurant and motel family. She is also an artist, designer, and business manager. This mom and pop couple work hand in hand with staff, managing the endless daily duties of motel operations, and they each help take care of guests.

When new guests arrive at the Legends Inn, they see that this is not a typical hotel or motel in the Hill Country. Along with the Texas State flag, flags from all areas of the military service wave at you. There’s also a very special “First Line of Defense” flag that Kevin designed. This flag depicts support for all of our police officers, firemen and medical personnel.

Along with the flag display, you will see the beautiful gardens that Kevin and Denise have been creating. The building was once surrounded with asphalt. After endless hours and weeks of rattling with the jackhammer, Kevin got rid of all that asphalt, and helped Denise create new flower beds. But, Kevin does most of the dirty work.

Denise designs the flower beds and landscaping projects, and tells Kevin how to build the it all.

More new raised flower beds are being added. He lifts all the heavy rocks. Unless he's not looking! She does all the planting and it is her domain. When they are in full bloom, photos will be included for you to view.

Mom and pop continue to look for ways to improve their business, to stand out from the crowd, make things more personable, nicer, and helps guests feel more welcome and comfortable.

The remodeled rooms are unique and most include wall textures or faux finishes. Kevin and Denise appreciate all the help they had remodeling rooms. Especially from Kevin's daughter, Heather. She worked extremely hard and learned more about how to fix up her own house. Of course, mom and pop never forget their family of employees. Everyone at the Legends Inn takes pride in helping to maintain the property, provide guests with extremely clean rooms, and friendly service.

Kevin and Denise are very grateful for the commitment of their employees and consider it a pleasure to include them in the Legends Inn family.

Beyond the cosmetics, the friendly, casual atmosphere, and outstanding service at the Legends Inn helps the weariest of travelers feel welcome - like family. Complimentary coffee and pecan rolls are served each morning. All rooms include wireless internet, satellite television, refrigerators, microwaves, and alarm clocks. 12-cup coffeemakers are also available. And, if there is anything management can do to make your visit to Junction more pleasurable, all you have to do is ask. Kevin and Denise, as well as the desk clerks, Machelle and Nancy, will greet you with a smile and do whatever they can to help you. In a joint effort with the housekeepers, Tammy, Sissy and Gaye, everyone works extremely hard to provide you with the highest standard of customer service and squeaky clean rooms. Housekeepers work the hardest! And they appreciate your gratitude.

Hopefully, your family will visit soon. This is a great place for an affordable Hill Country getaway! Remember, the Legends Inn has always been pet friendly. Remember that Ginger is our guard dog. She is a big dog and she has a big bark, but she is really harmless and just wants everyone to know that this is her home. Especially the other dogs.
